IS IndoSurgicals® Full Protection – Partial Overlap Wrap Around Lead Apron
A wrap-around radiation-protection apron designed to provide front and rear torso protection while reducing unnecessary garment weight through a partial-overlap frontal construction. The apron is available with 0.35 mmPb or 0.50 mmPb nominal front protection and 0.25 mmPb rear protection, with the correctly overlapped frontal region providing double the selected nominal lead equivalence.
Wrap-Around Protection with a Weight-Conscious Partial-Overlap Design
The apron is designed for healthcare professionals who require protection from both frontal and rear scatter radiation during diagnostic, fluoroscopic and image-guided procedures. Its partial-overlap construction increases protection only through the intended overlapping frontal region, helping avoid the additional weight of a full-overlap design across the entire frontal area.
Front and Rear Coverage
The apron wraps around the torso to provide nominal front protection of 0.35 mmPb or 0.50 mmPb, together with consistent 0.25 mmPb protection at the back.
Partial-Overlap Construction
The frontal panels overlap through the intended central region rather than across the entire front, providing enhanced shielding where the panels overlap while reducing overall garment weight.
Selectable Front Protection with 0.25 mmPb Rear Coverage
The apron can be configured with either 0.35 mmPb or 0.50 mmPb nominal front protection. The rear panel remains at 0.25 mmPb in both configurations.
0.35 mmPb Front
Nominal frontal protection option where the approved radiation-safety protocol permits 0.35 mmPb.
0.50 mmPb Front
Higher nominal frontal protection option for procedures or departments requiring 0.50 mmPb.
0.25 mmPb Back
Consistent rear protection helps provide comprehensive wrap-around coverage of the wearer.
Designed for Protection, Stability and Practical Clinical Wear
Tested Core Materials
Available with StPb®, NoPb®-LT, NoPb®-SL and NoPb®-BL radiation-protection core options.
Partial-Overlap Front
Overlapping frontal panels enhance protection through the intended overlap region while limiting excess weight.
Wrap-Around Coverage
The apron provides protection to both the front and back of the torso for comprehensive wearable shielding.
Padded Shoulders
Shoulder padding helps reduce concentrated pressure during prolonged use.
Waist Support
Waist straps and buckle fastening help transfer part of the garment load away from the shoulders.
Hook-and-Loop Closure
The front closure supports straightforward donning, removal and adjustment.
Dosimeter Pocket
A front pocket provides a convenient location for a personal dosimeter badge where required.
PU-Coated Outer Fabric
The outer fabric is designed for routine clinical handling and cleaning according to current care instructions.
Weight-Conscious Design
The partial-overlap construction is intended to balance protection with lower garment weight than a comparable full-overlap configuration.
Four Core Choices for Shielding, Weight and Procurement Requirements
Four core-material options are listed. Approximate values below are core area densities per square metre, not finished apron weights.
StPb® — Conventional Lead-Vinyl
Approximate core area density: 4.62 kg/m² at 0.35 mmPb and 6.60 kg/m² at 0.50 mmPb.
NoPb®-LT — Lead-Free Lightweight
Approximate core area density: 4.50 kg/m² at 0.35 mmPb and 6.00 kg/m² at 0.50 mmPb.
NoPb®-SL — Lead-Free Super Lightweight
Approximate core area density: 3.90 kg/m² at 0.35 mmPb and 5.20 kg/m² at 0.50 mmPb.
NoPb®-BL — Lead-Free Broad-Beam Tested
Approximate core area density: 4.29 kg/m² at 0.35 mmPb and 6.00 kg/m² at 0.50 mmPb.
For Healthcare Environments Requiring Front and Rear Radiation Protection
The apron is intended for professional radiation-protection use in diagnostic and image-guided medical environments. Suitability should be determined according to the actual procedure, staff movement and institutional radiation-safety protocol.
Cardiac Cath Labs
For fluoroscopy-guided cardiac procedures where staff may remain near the radiation field for extended periods.
EP Laboratories
Suitable for prolonged electrophysiology procedures involving fluoroscopic imaging.
Radiology Departments
For radiologists, technicians and supporting personnel working around diagnostic X-ray equipment.
C-Arm Procedures
For surgical teams working around mobile fluoroscopy equipment during image-guided procedures.
Urology Procedures
For clinicians working with fluoroscopic imaging in urology and related procedure rooms.
Dental & Diagnostic Clinics
For professionals requiring wrap-around radiation protection during applicable diagnostic imaging procedures.

What to Confirm Before Ordering
Protection Level
Select 0.35 mmPb or 0.50 mmPb frontal protection according to the approved radiation-safety requirement.
Core Material
Choose conventional lead-vinyl or a lead-free core according to shielding, weight and documentation requirements.
Correct Overlap
Enhanced frontal shielding applies only where the designated front panels are correctly overlapped.
Apron Fit
Confirm the correct garment size so front, rear and intended overlap coverage are maintained during normal working posture.
Protect the Radiation-Shielding Core from Avoidable Damage
Recommended Handling
Store flat or on a suitable radiation-apron hanger. Avoid folding, sharp creasing or placing heavy objects on the protective core. Clean the outer surface using a compatible mild cleaning method and allow the apron to dry before storage.
Routine Inspection
Inspect the fabric, seams, hook-and-loop closure, straps, buckle and shoulder support regularly. Follow the facility schedule for integrity inspection and remove the apron from use if shielding-core damage is suspected.
