StPb® Lead Vinyl Radiation Protection Core Material is a conventional lead-based shielding material used in IndoSurgicals lead aprons and X-ray protection garments. It is designed to provide dependable radiation protection for healthcare professionals working in hospitals, radiology departments, diagnostic centers, cath labs, C-arm procedures, urology departments, dental clinics, veterinary clinics, nuclear medicine departments, and interventional procedure rooms.
StPb® is made using standard lead shielding particles bonded inside a flexible polymer / vinyl matrix. This construction provides reliable X-ray attenuation while keeping the core material flexible enough for manufacturing frontal protection lead aprons, full protection lead aprons, thyroid shields, gonad shields, dental aprons, patient protection shields, and other medical radiation protection products.
As a conventional lead vinyl material, StPb® is a practical and cost-effective choice for users who prefer traditional lead-based radiation protection with proven shielding performance.
Core specification
Product Details
StPb® is the standard lead vinyl core material used by IndoSurgicals Private Limited for manufacturing high-quality radiation protection aprons. It is suitable for users who require a dependable, economical, and widely accepted core material for routine medical X-ray protection.
IndoSurgicals supplies lead aprons in two main protection levels:
Apron Protection Level
Sheet Construction Used
0.35 mmPb Lead Equivalent
2 sheets of 0.175 mmPb
0.50 mmPb Lead Equivalent
2 sheets of 0.25 mmPb

The below values are approximate core material weight per square metre. Final apron weight may vary depending on apron size, outer fabric, stitching, binding, hook and loop closure, buckles, pockets, and accessories.
In a frontal protection lead apron, the radiation protection core is used on the front side of the apron. This design is suitable for users who mainly face the radiation source during medical procedures.

2. Full-Overlap Full Protection Lead Apron
In a full-overlap full protection lead apron, front protection is achieved when both front panels overlap each other. The back panel is always made with one 0.25 mmPb sheet.

3. Partial-Overlap Full Protection Lead Apron
In the Partial-Overlap Full Protection Lead Apron, both front panels are made with the full claimed lead equivalent protection. This design provides full front-side protection on each panel, while the overlapped front portion provides additional shielding because both protective panels come together in the overlap area.

In 0.35 mmPb partial-overlap aprons, each front panel is made with 0.35 mmPb lead equivalent protection. Therefore, wherever both front panels overlap, the combined protection becomes approximately 0.70 mmPb lead equivalent.
In 0.50 mmPb partial-overlap aprons, each front panel is made with 0.50 mmPb lead equivalent protection. Therefore, wherever both front panels overlap, the combined protection becomes approximately 1.00 mmPb lead equivalent.
The back panel is always 0.25 mmPb lead equivalent in both 0.35 mmPb and 0.50 mmPb partial-overlap full protection apron designs.
