Two-Piece Full-Protection Radiation Apparel

IS IndoSurgicals® Full Protection – Full Overlap Wrap Around Lead Vest & Skirt

A two-piece wrap-around radiation-protection garment designed to protect the front and back of the upper and lower torso while distributing garment weight between the shoulders, waist and hips. Full-overlap front panels provide enhanced shielding through the central frontal region when correctly positioned, while the separate vest-and-skirt construction supports improved comfort during longer procedures.

Front: 0.35 / 0.50 mmPb Back: 0.25 mmPb Full-Overlap Front Panels Lead & Lead-Free Options

Full Wrap-Around Protection with Two-Piece Weight Distribution

The garment combines an upper protective vest with a lower wrap-around skirt. Both sections provide front and rear coverage, while the two-piece format prevents the entire garment load from being carried only by the shoulders. This can improve comfort for clinicians who wear radiation-protection apparel for extended periods.

Upper-Torso Protection

The wrap-around vest protects the front and back of the upper torso and uses full-overlap frontal panels through the central protected region when correctly positioned.

Lower-Torso Protection

The separate wrap-around skirt extends protection over the lower torso while transferring part of the garment load to the waist and hips.

Selectable Front Protection with Consistent Rear Coverage

The garment is available with either 0.35 mmPb or 0.50 mmPb nominal frontal protection while maintaining 0.25 mmPb protection at the back.

0.35 mmPb Front

Nominal frontal protection option for applications where the approved radiation-safety protocol permits 0.35 mmPb.

0.50 mmPb Front

Higher nominal frontal protection option for procedures or departments requiring 0.50 mmPb.

0.25 mmPb Back

Rear panels provide 0.25 mmPb protection to support wrap-around coverage of the torso.

Full-overlap effect: In the correctly overlapped frontal region, two layers combine to provide approximately 0.70 mmPb with the 0.35 mmPb model and approximately 1.00 mmPb with the 0.50 mmPb model.

Designed for Protection, Stability and Extended Clinical Wear

Full Wrap-Around Coverage

The vest and skirt combination protects the front and back of both the upper and lower torso.

Two-Piece Construction

Separating the vest and skirt helps distribute garment weight between the shoulders, waist and hips.

Full-Overlap Front

Overlapping front panels provide enhanced shielding through the central frontal region when correctly positioned.

Padded Shoulders

Soft shoulder padding helps reduce concentrated pressure during prolonged procedures.

Secure Closure System

Hook-and-loop closures, support straps, buckle fastening and waist support help maintain a stable fit.

Dosimeter Pocket

A front pocket provides a convenient location for a personal radiation dosimeter badge where required.

PU-Coated Outer Fabric

The outer covering is intended for routine clinical use and cleaning according to current care instructions.

Multiple Core Options

Available with conventional lead-vinyl and lead-free radiation-protection core materials.

Extended-Procedure Comfort

The weight-distributing two-piece format is particularly useful where protection garments are worn for longer procedures.

Choose the Balance of Weight, Shielding and Procurement Requirements

Four core-material options are available. Approximate values below are core area densities per square metre, not finished vest-and-skirt garment weights.

StPb® — Conventional Lead-Vinyl

Approximate core area density: 4.62 kg/m² at 0.35 mmPb and 6.60 kg/m² at 0.50 mmPb.

NoPb®-LT — Lead-Free Lightweight

Approximate core area density: 4.50 kg/m² at 0.35 mmPb and 6.00 kg/m² at 0.50 mmPb.

Learn more about NoPb®-LT →

NoPb®-SL — Lead-Free Super Lightweight

Approximate core area density: 3.90 kg/m² at 0.35 mmPb and 5.20 kg/m² at 0.50 mmPb. It has the lowest listed area density among the four current options.

NoPb®-BL — Lead-Free Broad-Beam Tested

Approximate core area density: 4.29 kg/m² at 0.35 mmPb and 6.00 kg/m² at 0.50 mmPb.

Weight note: Finished garment weight also depends on vest and skirt size, outer fabric, binding, stitching, closures, buckles, pocket and other garment components.

For Procedures Requiring Comprehensive Front and Rear Protection

The garment is intended for professional radiation-protection use in healthcare environments where clinicians may require protection from both frontal and rear scatter during routine or extended procedures.

Cardiac Cath Labs

For fluoroscopy-guided cardiac procedures where staff may remain near the radiation field for extended periods.

EP Laboratories

Suitable for prolonged electrophysiology procedures involving fluoroscopic imaging.

Interventional Radiology

For image-guided interventions requiring comprehensive wearable radiation protection.

C-Arm Procedures

For surgical teams working around mobile fluoroscopy equipment during image-guided procedures.

Radiology Departments

For radiologists, technicians and supporting personnel working around diagnostic X-ray equipment.

Urology Procedures

For clinicians working with fluoroscopic imaging in urology and related procedure rooms.

What to Confirm Before Ordering

Protection Level

Select 0.35 mmPb or 0.50 mmPb frontal protection according to the approved radiation-safety requirement.

Core Material

Choose conventional lead-vinyl or a lead-free core according to shielding, weight and documentation requirements.

Correct Overlap

Full-overlap performance depends on the front panels being correctly positioned and maintained in the intended overlapping configuration.

Vest & Skirt Fit

Confirm the correct garment size so intended front, rear and overlap coverage are maintained during normal working posture.

Protect the Radiation-Shielding Core from Avoidable Damage

Recommended Handling

Store the vest and skirt flat or on suitable radiation-protection garment hangers. Avoid folding, sharp creasing or placing heavy objects on the protective core. Clean the outer surface using a compatible mild cleaning method and allow the garments to dry before storage.

Routine Inspection

Inspect the fabric, seams, closures, buckles, straps, shoulder support and skirt fastening regularly. Follow the facility schedule for integrity inspection and remove either garment from use if shielding-core damage is suspected.

Full-Overlap Wrap Around Vest & Skirt FAQs

What is a full-overlap wrap-around lead vest and skirt?
It is a two-piece radiation-protection garment consisting of a protective vest and skirt. The front panels wrap around and overlap, while rear panels provide protection to the back of the torso.
How does the two-piece design improve comfort?
The vest carries part of the garment weight at the shoulders while the skirt transfers part of the load to the waist and hips, helping distribute weight during longer procedures.
Which protection levels are available?
The garment is available with 0.35 mmPb or 0.50 mmPb nominal front protection and 0.25 mmPb back protection.
Does the full-overlap region increase the lead equivalence?
Yes. When correctly overlapped, the protected central frontal region contains two layers, providing approximately 0.70 mmPb in the 0.35 mmPb model and approximately 1.00 mmPb in the 0.50 mmPb model.
Which core material has the lowest listed area density?
NoPb®-SL has the lowest listed core area density among the current four options. Final garment selection should also consider the required shielding, procedure type, budget and institutional policy.
Can size and colour be customized?
Standard sizes range from XS through XXL and multiple colours are available. Additional customization may depend on the required configuration, order quantity and production feasibility.
Safety note: Radiation-protection garments reduce exposure; they do not eliminate radiation risk. Use them together with appropriate distance, positioning, shielding, dosimetry, equipment settings and the healthcare facility’s approved radiation-safety procedures.
