This NIV Mask often used in the treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). COPD is an umbrella term for lung and respiratory diseases that make breathing difficult.
The primary contraindication for NIV Mask is that the patient cannot spontaneously breathe on their own. Patients with severe vomiting, burns, airway trauma, altered states of consciousness, recent facial surgery, or pneumothorax with bronchopleural fistula are not typically good candidates for NIV Mask.
